No person can be successful without a family that has their back! 🥰

Saturday I was at the RVA Book Lovers' Festival Presented by Brandylane Publishers hosting my book.

What a wonderful experience meeting parents, educators, and other fellow authors. Selling my books was just a Huge Bonus.

But none of it would be possible without my kids who patiently stayed there from, wait for it.... 9 am to 4 pm !!!! OR my husband who helped set up, man the booth when I had to go present / go to restroom / eat / network... 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

You would think an author's life is easy. Just writing!!  But it requires so much sacrifice and support. Hustling, co-ordinating, marketing etc.

We live in a country where we don't have family to lean back on and friends who of course struggle just as much as we do to get through "hectic days". 😟

These 3 are not only my inspiration , but also the only way I can manage to do whatever little I can.

My husband pushes me towards my goals (even though it ends up being harder on us both) and my kids, God bless them, are just so wonderful.

Yes, we have our bad days. But it's days like these which take so much out of us which make us realize how blessed we are.

Do make sure to take a moment to recognize that your hard days are harder on your children and partner. And appreciate their contribution with a grateful heart. 🙏🙏

Kitchen

I decide to pass on Little one's kitchen as she hasn't played with it in over a year. She comes back from school & starts playing with her kitchen making up stories and making me feel horrid.

As the time for them to come approaches, my heart is scared, for I imagine her getting upset about letting "her toy" go.

When they come, I ask how old is their kid and they say, "18 months. She will be so excited! "

Hearing this 5.5 yr old smiles and says, "Please send me her picture when she sees it for the first time. "

She proceeds to help the lady and me, load all the pieces of the kitchen and it's accessories into the car, picking things up as they fall out. "Don't forget this. Don't forget that. "

The lady says " I wouldn't know what I would do without you helping us. "

She beams and waves good bye and my heart grows 10 times bigger. ❤️❤️❤️
